Variegated Rubber Plant Care

Family: MoraceaeBotanical name: Ficus Elastica 'Tineke'

By on

One of the first variegated house plants I got and so far we haven't got any casualties. The Variegated Rubber Plant is pretty easy to care for compared with some of my other plants, as long as it has the right amount of light and you don't overdo the watering routine.

This ficus is not the fastest growing but the leaves have a one of a kind white/creamy and green pattern. If the leaves start being plague by brown spots it could mean that your plant needs more light.

All Rubber Plants are toxic if ingested so keep them away from kids and curious pets.

Light

This variegated Ficus Elastica prefers residing in a brightly lit room with no direct light (few hours of morning or afternoon sun will be fine).

Because it's variegated and doesn't have as much chlorophyll as the non-variegated version, this Ficus will get brown spots if it doesn't get enough light.

Watering

Water about once every 5-7 days in spring and summer and once every 14 days days in the autumn and winter. Always allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings.
